Il 28 gennaio 2017 a Otepää, in Estonia, si sono svolti i Campionati Europei di winter triathlon che hanno visto trionfare ancora una volta il russo Pavel Andreev e tra le donne la specialista di XTERRA, Helena Erbenova, con gli azzurri capaci di salire due volte sul podio.
Tanta Russia ai Campionati Europei di winter triathlon, come è consuetudine ormai in un movimento che lotta per continuare a sopravvivere e a divertire i suoi appassionati praticanti.
In Estonia ancora una volta Pavel Andreev ha dettato legge, non lasciando scampo al lettone Oskars Muiznieks, con terzo l’altro russo Dmitriy Bregeda.
Lontani dalle prime posizioni i nostri due Elite: Giuseppe Lamastra ha chiuso 8°, Daniel Antonioli 12°, subito in difficoltà per via del fondo ghiacciato.
Tra le donne, la ceca Helena Erbenova, specialista del cross triathlon, torna al suo primo grande amore, lo sci di fondo, e va a prendersi il titolo europeo proprio sugli sci stretti a discapito dell’austriaca Romana Slavinec, che arriva dopo 16″; russe battute, “solo” terza Yulia Surikova che precede la giovanissima Daria Rogozina.
La graduatoria Under 23 premia alla grande la Russia con due triplette sul podio e oro per Roman Vasin e Rogozina; Marco Liporace è quarto, squalificato invece Davide Vuerich, autore peraltro di un’ottima prova.
Negli junior lo strapotere russo si conferma con i successi di Aleksandr Vasilev e Polina Tarakanova, con la prima medaglia azzurra che arriva grazie a Davide Ingrillì che arriva a 31″ dal vincitore resistendo al rientro dell’altro russo Kirill Kvitko; 11° Alberto Rabellino.
Per quanto riguarda gli Age Group, splendida prova per Fabrizio Garetto che tra gli M30-34 vince e si va a prendere una scintillante medaglia d’oro; a rappresentare i colori azzurri ci pensano anche Alberto Quarello, Fabrizio Pitonzo e Valter De Rossi.
