CRONACA
Il trentacinquenne statunitense Josiah Middaugh vince per la terza volta in quattro anni l’XTERRA Mountain Championship che si è disputata nei pressi del Beaver Creek Resort ad Avon (Colorado). Ampio il margine sui diretti inseguitori, Ben Hoffman e Mauricio Mendez, che occupano gli altri due gradini del podio.
Tra le donne, la trentaquattrenne canadese Chantell Widney centra invece il suo primo successo a distanza di due anni dalla prima volta in cui è salita su una mountain bike. Emma Garrard le arriva a meno di un minuto, Danell Kabush a poco più di due, mentre la già iridata e campionessa in carica Shonny Vanlandingham si deve accontentare del quarto posto.
Al traguardo anche un italiano esperto di cross triathlon, il romagnolo Samuele Peroni.
Il prossimo appuntamento con l’XTERRA World Tour sarà l’XTERRA Italy di sabato 26 luglio a Scanno, in Abruzzo, dove è atteso il gotha della triplice su ruote grasse.
