Il 1° Challenge Gold Coast ha salutato i successi dell’australiano Tim Reed e della neozelandese Amelia Rose Watkins. La frazione bike della gara è stata accorciata da 90 a 40K per via di inondazioni dovute alle abbondanti piogge dei giorni precedenti. Alle spalle di Reed altri due aussie, Sam Appleton e David Mainwaring. Dietro Watkins, Annabel Luxford e Tineke Stewart.
I due vincitori, oltre al montepremi della gara si sono aggiudicati anche il “Royal Package” del Challenge Bahrain (6 dicembre): volo, alloggio 5 stelle e autista personale.
Alla gara hanno preso parte oltre 1.400 age group, tra cui però nessun azzurro.
