Il circuito europeo ha fatto tappa il 5 luglio a Xonrupt dove si è svolto XTERRA France con numeri da record (circa 2000 partecipanti!) e grandi gare vinte dai campionissimi Kathrin Mueller e Ruben Ruzafa.
Per la tedesca Mueller e lo spagnolo Ruzafa è arrivata la conferma dopo il successo del 2014, con vittorie nette e distacchi ampi sui diretti avversari.
Il tre volte iridato XTERRA, e campione in carica, Ruben Ruzafa è riuscito a imporsi cogliendo la 12^ vittoria consecutiva, a partire dal titolo iridato del 2013.
Il suo tempo finale di 3:18:08 la dice lunga sulla durezza del percorso; dopo oltre 5′ è giunto il sudafricano Bradley Weiss, terza piazza per il transalpino Francois Carloni.
Mueller, campionessa europea 2014, ha conquistato invece la sua ottava vittoria in 10 gare del circuito a cui ha preso parte dal 2014.
Niente da fare per la campionessa ceca Helena Erbenova che si è accontentata della seconda piazza, mentre terza ha chiuso la francese Myriam Guillot.
Da segnalare le ottime prove di due azzurri delle Sai Frecce Bianche nell’XTERRA “decouverte”, su distanze di 0.500-20-5K: Stefano Davite è arrivato terzo assoluto, a poco più di 2′ dal vincitore; la giovanissima Marta Menditto ha chiuso invece al quinto posto assoluto.

«XTERRA France “Decouverte”, gara sempre stupenda, bici durissima e tecnica, percorso run stupendo, una marea di partenti! Chiudo terzo assoluto, battuto da due ragazzini francesi che sanno davvero cosa vuol dire fare tirathlon cross. In italia non esiste nessun ragazzo che sappia pedalare a quei ritmi in percorsi del genere e poi correre forte, siamo proprio anni luce indietro. Chi va a Xonrupt a vedere o partecipate alla manifestazione puo capire. Però va bene cosi, io ci vado tutti gli anni e quando torno a casa il giorno dopo mi viene la depressione 🙂 »

2015 XTERRA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIERS
The XTERRA France Championship was the 22nd of 40 events where the fastest amateur athletes from around the world qualify for the 20th annual XTERRA World Championship at Kapalua, Maui on Nov. 1.
