Dopo l’incredibile esordio di Hamilton Island in marzo, torna la Super League Triathlon “inventata” dal vulcanico Chris Macca McCormack.
Dopo l’Australia, il 23 e 24 settembre 2017 si gareggerà in Europa, per la precisione nell’isola di Jersey, in Gran Bretagna, con la novità dell’esordio della gara femminile.
Cinquanta tra i migliori triatleti del mondo, uomini e donne, inclusi 25 olimpici, gareggeranno il 23 e 24 settembre a Jersey, isola situtata nel golfo di Saint Malo, a un passo dalla Francia, ma facente parte del Regno Unito.
Tra gli uomini, saranno al via i padroni di casa, i “Brownlee Brothers“, e i loro storici rivali: gli spagnoli Javier Gomez Noya e Mario Mola Diaz, il sudafricano Richard Murray (trionfatore in Australia) e il giovane aussie Jake Birtwhistle, in grande spolvero in questa stagione.
Confermatissimo anche il nostro Alessandro Fabian, unico azzurro, e già tra i protagonisti anche della prima di Hamilton Island.

Nella prima femminile, ovviamente al via ci saranno le brit, Vicky Holland, Jodie Stimpson, Lucy Hall e Non Stanford, e con loro tra le altre la campionessa del mondo in carica, Flora Duffy (Bermuda), la medaglia di bronzo olimpica Erin Densham (Australia), la statunitense Katie Zafares e la svizzera Nicola Spirig, oro a Londra 2012 e argento a Rio 2016.

Insomma, si preannuncia una seconda tappa davvero eccezionale, ancora più avvincente dell’evento inaugurale disputatosi dal 17 al 19 marzo ad Hamilton Island, che premiò, al termine di tre avvincenti ed esaltanti giornate di gara, il sudafricano Richard Murray: in palio per questi campionissimi ci sarà un montepremi di 130.000 dollari, sia per gli uomini, sia per le donne.
Il formato gara, su due giorni, proporrà il sabato il “Triple Mix“: tre round con 10 minuti di break tra uno e l’altro; primo round con nuoto, bici, corsa; secondo round con corsa, bici e nuoto; terzo round con bici, nuoto, corsa.
Domenica invece sarà il turno di “Eliminator“: anche in questo caso saranno tre i round, sempre con 10 minuti di break, in questo caso del classico triathlon nuoto, bici corsa; al termine del primo round passano i primi 16, al termine del secondo round passano i primi 10 che disputeranno la finale.
Per quanto riguarda i percorsi, il nuoto di 300 metri si svolgerà tra i mega yacht dell’Elizabeth Marina di St. Helier; saranno 5 i giri di bici molto tecnici e spettacolari; così come la velocissima frazione di corsa che si disputerà su due giri.
Anche per questa seconda tappa della Super League Triathlon, l’attenzione per la comunicazione sarà ai massimi livelli, con dirette su emittenti televisive di tutto il mondo e coperture anche in live streaming di ogni attimo di gara.
