Due giorni di triathlon stellari ad Amburgo sabato 15 e domenica 16 luglio con la 5^ tappa dell’ITU World Triathlon Series e il Mondiale di Triathlon Mixed Relay, la staffetta mista, specialità che, ricordiamolo, assegnerà la terza medaglia olimpica del triathlon ai Giochi di Tokyo 2020.
Dopo le gare Age Group della mattina, sabato si svolgeranno le prove individuali Elite (via alle 14.30 per le donne, alle 16.00 per gli uomini).
Impressionante la quantità di campioni al via, in particolare tra le favorite nella gara femminile troviamo le statunitensi Kirsten Kasper, Katie Zaferes e Taylor Spivey; la campionessa del mondo in carica Flora Duffy (BER); la neozelandese Andrea Hewitt; le australiane Ashleigh Gentle e Charlotte McShane; le britanniche Jessica Learmonth e Lucy Hall; e la giovane beniamina tedesca Laura Lindemann.
Tra gli uomini, con il numero 1 lo spagnolo Fernando Alarza con vicino a lui i suoi compagni della “Triarmada” Javier Gomez e Mario Mola; i britannici Tom Bishop e Adam Bowden, mentre Jonathan Brownlee ha dato forfait; i sudafricani Richard Murray ed Henri Schoeman; i francesi Vincent Luis, Dorian Coninx e Pierre Le Corre; Kristian Blummenfelt e Joao Pereira (POR); gli statunitensi Ben Kanute, Kevin McDowell e Matt Mcelroy; e gli australiani Jake Birtwhistle, Ryan Baile ed Aaron Royle.
Al via anche un poker di azzurri: nella gara femminile, Alice Betto (3^ a Leeds nell’ultima tappa disputata e 3^ agli Europei di Kitzbuhel la settimana successiva), Ilaria Zane (argento nei Campionati del Mediterraneo di Altafulla) e Alessia Orla; tra gli uomini, Matthias Steinwandter, reduce dal terzo posto in Coppa Europa a Tartu dello scorso fine settimana.
Nella prova a squadre della domenica, per la compagine italiana Joel Filliol ha convocato anche Alessandro Fabian (al rientro nel circuito), Massimo De Ponti e Verena Steinhauser; purtroppo costretta al forfait per infortunio Anna Maria Mazzetti.

#WTSHamburg is a OG! Having joined our the WTS at the start of the Series in 2009, it is one of the oldest races on the circuit!
#WTSHamburg is one of the most ELECTRIC races on the calendar every year due to the HUGE amount of crowds that come to support the elites!
