L’olandese Sarissa De Vries e il danese Kristian Høgenhaug vincono i titoli iridati sulla distanza dei 3.8K di nuoto, 180K di bici e 42.2K di corsa ad Almere, in Olanda.
Sul podio anche la francese Manon Genet, la danese Michelle Vesterby, lo svedese Jesper Svensson e il brasiliano Reinaldo Colucci.
Per i colori azzurri, applausi per la nostra Elisabetta Curridori, 4^ e autrice di una spettacolare maratona (2:52:32, miglior split di giornata), mentre Marta Bernardi ha chiuso 11^; medaglia di bronzo conquistata dall’inossidabile Alberto Ceriani con la sua guida Claudio Pellegri.
Sempre ad Almere si sono disputati anche i World Triathlon Long Distance Aquabike Championships, dedicati solo gli Age Group, a cui non ha preso parte nessun italiano.
