Sabato 29 aprile 2023 è iniziato il programma del World Triathlon Multisport World Championship di Ibiza con le gare di duathlon sprint individuali per Elite, U23, Junior, Age Group e subito è arrivata una pioggia di medaglie per gli azzurri!

Vittorie Elite per il campionissimo spagnolo Mario Mola e per la campionessa britannica Emma Pallant, con sul podio la magiara Zsanett Bragmayer e la giapponese Ai Ueda (con quarta la nostra Giorgia Priarone) e i transalpini Benjamin Choquert e Krilan Le Bihan.

Dominio Italia nella categoria Under 23 grazie a Riccardo Martellato (splendido 5° assoluto!) e ad Asia Mercatelli oro e Chiara Lobba argento; oro e argento anche nella gara Junior grazie alle prove di Noemi Bogiatto ed Eleonora Demarchi.

In evindenza il Team Italia Age Group: vittoria di un oro con l’inarrestabile Lucia Soranzo (75-79) e tre argenti con Carlo Simongini (60-64), Normanno Di Gennaro (70-74) e Gherardo Mercati (80-84).

La staffetta mista di domenica 30 aprile ha regalato all’Italia una grande doppia soddisfazione: la splendida impresa di Giorgia Priarone e Samuele Angelini che vincono l’oro Elite e l’argento Junior conquistato da Noemi Bogiatto e Nicolò Astori.

Sempre il 30 aprile, Alessandro Carvani Minetti vince l’oro Paraduathlon categoria PTS2, mentre nel Duathlon Standard arrivano le medaglie Age Group dei nostri Gherardo Mercati, oro M80, e Maria Vittoria Marocco, bronzo F65.

Nell’Aquathlon di lunedì 1 maggio, vinto in campo Elite dalla magiara Zsanett Bragmayer e dallo spagnolo Cristian Fernandez Nieto, sono arrivate altre soddisfazioni per l’Italia: 2 gli argenti U23 conquistati da Giada Stegani e Michele Bortolamedi, grande oro del mito del triathlon italiano Gianpietro De Faveri (M50), poi argento di Vanessa Andreetta (F25) e bronzo di Gherardo Mercati (M80).

E ancora nel Duathlon Cross di mercoledì 3 maggio, Italia sul podio grazie a uno scatenato Alessandro Saravalle che riesce a conquistare la medaglia di bronzo nella prova vinta dal belga Sebastien Carabin e dall’olandese Diede Diederiks in campo femminile.

Per quanto riguarda il Team Italia Age Group, arriva la vittoria e la quarta medaglia per Gherardo Mercati (2 ori, 1 argento e 1 bronzo sino ad ora), oro anche per Maria Vittoria Marocco (che fa il paio con il bronzo nel duathlon standard) ed Elisa Nardi (F40), e infine argento per Alessandro De Cillia (M55).

In attesa del gran finale, con i Mondiali di cross triathlon del 5 maggio (con al via gli azzurri Elite Sandra Mairhofer, Marta Menditto, Franco Pesavento, Michele Bonacina e Federico Spinazzè) e i Mondiali di triathlon lungo di domenica 7 maggio (con al via gli azzurri Elite Giorgia Priarone, Matteo Montanari ed Emanuele Faraco), godiamoci gli highlights, le dichiarazioni, le classifiche e la fotogallery delle gare già disputate a Ibiza.
